Reporting a wrong result

This is the most useful message you can send, and the one that gets answered first. So that it can be reproduced rather than guessed at, include:

• Which calculator, by name or link
• The exact values you entered, including the units you had selected
• The result the page gave you
• The result you expected, and where that figure came from if you have a source

Anything traced to a formula or an out-of-date figure is corrected and the page's last updated date moves. If it turns out to be a documented limitation of the method rather than a bug, it gets written into the methodology page so the next person reading hits the caveat before they rely on the number.

Suggesting a calculator

Tell us the calculation and, more importantly, the situation you needed it for. What gets built is decided by whether a page can say something the existing tools do not — the context around the number, not just the number.

Reusing content

Quoting a figure or a formula with a link back is fine and needs no permission. For anything larger — republishing a table, embedding a calculator, or using the material in teaching or a commercial product — write first and say what you have in mind. See the terms of use for the general position.

Privacy and data requests

Requests about personal data go to the same address. Note that the calculators run entirely in your browser, so the figures you type are never received here in the first place — the privacy policy sets out what is and is not collected, and what can be actioned.

What will not get a reply

• Link exchanges, guest post offers, and paid placement of any kind
• SEO and marketing services
• Requests to add advertising or affiliate links to the calculators
